Would you like any cheese with that?

So the time has come.  What with full time work and daily life and the fact that 4 years in we are hardly 'new' to America anymore, I've decided this will be my final blog post.

So what to end with?  If you'd told me 5 years ago I would be living in California, Ste would be working for a huge American cooperation, our kids would be going to private school and I'd also be teaching at said private school and we'd have a whole host of expat friends I'd have told you to stop being so daft!  But it's happened.

To summarise, life can be great.  At the beginning of February this happened...

By March is was like this...

What's not to love?  Well funny you just ask... so here goes

Why is it you spell tyre and cheque as ‘tire’ and ‘check’?  Have some class.  And when will you learn that apple sauce is two words.  Apple and sauce.  Saying ‘applesauce’ is plain lazy.
And why is it necessary to put brown sugar and pieces of fat in your baked beans?  It’s disgusting.  And while we are on the subject of ‘applesauce’ – surely this is for babies?  Can you not just eat an apple?  And don’t get me started on corn dogs.
And why do you only teach your children American history?  It’s a big world out there and lots of interesting things happen in other countries.
And what is it about letting small children ‘handle their own conflicts’?  The only purpose this serves is creating very badly behaved children.  Try to remember they are 6 and YOU are the adult.
And why you do insist on saying ‘I could care less’.  This means you actually care.
And why is it that manners don't seem to matter to people.  If my 8 year old says 'sure' when she means 'yes please' one more time I might scream.
And for goodness sake - cheese doesn't go with everything!

Just saying...
