Would you like any cheese with that?

So the time has come.  What with full time work and daily life and the fact that 4 years in we are hardly 'new' to America anymore, I've decided this will be my final blog post.

So what to end with?  If you'd told me 5 years ago I would be living in California, Ste would be working for a huge American cooperation, our kids would be going to private school and I'd also be teaching at said private school and we'd have a whole host of expat friends I'd have told you to stop being so daft!  But it's happened.

To summarise, life can be great.  At the beginning of February this happened...

By March is was like this...

What's not to love?  Well funny you just ask... so here goes

Why is it you spell tyre and cheque as ‘tire’ and ‘check’?  Have some class.  And when will you learn that apple sauce is two words.  Apple and sauce.  Saying ‘applesauce’ is plain lazy.
And why is it necessary to put brown sugar and pieces of fat in your baked beans?  It’s disgusting.  And while we are on the subject of ‘applesauce’ – surely this is for babies?  Can you not just eat an apple?  And don’t get me started on corn dogs.
And why do you only teach your children American history?  It’s a big world out there and lots of interesting things happen in other countries.
And what is it about letting small children ‘handle their own conflicts’?  The only purpose this serves is creating very badly behaved children.  Try to remember they are 6 and YOU are the adult.
And why you do insist on saying ‘I could care less’.  This means you actually care.
And why is it that manners don't seem to matter to people.  If my 8 year old says 'sure' when she means 'yes please' one more time I might scream.
And for goodness sake - cheese doesn't go with everything!

Just saying...

Sophia turns 8! (going on 18)

27th February 2015

As always in this house in February the birthdays just keep on coming!  After a family trip to California pizza kitchen Sophia was determined to have a party sleepover with a hole host of girlies.  There was t-shirt decorating, cookie decorating, smores, movies, balloon parties and not a great deal of sleep.  However it was all for a good cause as Phia had the best time of her life!!  She was very subdued when it all ended.

Still, she's still working her way through all the lego sets she received so it's not all bad!  Happy 8th birthday to my lovely girl :)

Skiing in the sunshine!!

February 14th 2015

Our 4th skiing trip with the Greenes.  Slightly marred for me by my brand new job!  I am now the official Kindergarten teacher at Carden.  Full time work and hard work.  K is definitely not my preferred age.  However I needed to start somewhere and when Miss Sunzeri left abruptly and they asked me to take over the post I felt I could only say yes.  Life is changing yet again!
Unfortunately for me this meant that I couldn't stay for the full 4 days as I was needed back in the class.  So I sadly made my own way hoe a couple of days early :(  However the time spend was great fun as always.  Sophia is now officially a champion skiing - she skied all the way from the top of the mountain with Ste - singing as she went!  T has taken after me - bambi on ice kind of thing!  The only crap part was that due to having had no winter and the fact it was easily in the late teens the snow was atrocious.  Rivers were running down the side of us whilst we skied.  Only one thing for it next year - Colorado here we come!

My baby is 6!!

February 2nd 2015

How did this happen?!  Time is going so fast it's scary.  But T is now officially 6.  He celebrated with a night out at Chilis with the family and a day out in the gloriously warm sunshine (only in California can you have an outdoor party at the beginning of February!) with his friends.  He got so many presents and so many lego sets he was beyond words.  Happy Birthday to my gorgeous little man :)
